Watering Restrictions added to Water Services & Rates Bylaw 0110-003, 2018

On September 18, 2018, Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality’s Council adopted Bylaw 0110-003, 2018 which updated the Water Services and Rates Bylaw to modify Section 9 to include standard water use and restrictions.   A full copy of the amended bylaw is available at www.sunpeaksmunicipality.ca or under the ‘Water‘ tab on this website.

Section 9 of the Water Services Bylaw 0110-003, 2018 implements Level I – Water Restrictions effective May 1st to Sept 30th each year.  

Level I – Water Restrictions – May 1st to Sept 30th unless further levels of water restrictions are implemented by the Engineer (or their designated representative as required from time to time.)

(a) Properties with even numbered addresses are allowed to sprinkle or irrigateonly
on even numbered days.
(b) Properties with odd numbered addresses are allowed to sprinkle or irrigate only on
odd numbered days.
(c) Sprinkling and irrigating activities are not allowed between the hours of 11:00 am
and 6:00 pm in each and every day
(d) Sprinkling and irrigating activities between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m. are
restricted to automatic irrigation systems or sprinklers controlled by a timer and
must comply with the following:

i. properties with even numbered addresses are allowed to sprinkle orirrigate
only on even numbered days; and
ii. properties with odd numbered addresses are allowed to sprinkle orirrigate
only on odd numbered days.

(e) Where a complex uses internal addresses or other identifying numbers, the internal
numbers will be used to establish the appropriate watering day.
(f) Commercial Customers may apply to the Engineer or delegate for a variance to the
water restrictions; an appeal from the Engineer’s decision may be made to Chief
Administration Officer.
(g) All outdoor hand use of hoses for other than filling swimming pools and/or hot tubs
shall be equipped with a working spring-loaded shut-off nozzles.
(h) Hand watering of plants using a hose with a working spring-loaded shutoff nozzle
or a hand-held container is allowed at any time.
